Harmony launches six months of events across the US and Canada where we share our vision for church's song as a mosaic of traditions, genres, instruments, and styles.

Cynthia Wilson

Rev. Dr. Cynthia A. Wilson is the Associate General Secretary (AGS) of Discipleship Ministries of The United Methodist Church and Director of The Center for Music and Worship in the Black Church Experience (CMWBCE) at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary.

Ana Hernandez

Ana Hernandez is a composer/arranger, workshop facilitator, author, and mischief maker. She creates beautiful liturgies in many different styles; from early music to contemplative, to drummy and participatory. Ana facilitates deep and meaningful conversations using the Art of Hosting modalities. 

Lim Swee Hong

Dr. Lim Swee Hong is widely utilized as a leader for global seminars and conferences dealing with worship and sacred music. In 2013 he served as the Co-Moderator of the Worship Committee for the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches for its meeting in Busan, South Korea.

John Bell

Rev. John Bell is a liturgical composer who writes with colleagues in Glasgow; he has a deep interest in music from non-European cultures and a passion for song of the Assembly. Though his primary vocation is as a preacher and teacher, he spends over half his time working in the areas of music and liturgy.

Joslyn Henderson

Joslyn Henderson is a full-time graduate student at George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University, having first earned her Bachelors of Vocal Performance from Spelman College in Atlanta.  She is a prolific gospel singer and song-leader and currently serves a local church in Waco, TX.

Tony Alonso

Tony Alonso is a composer and theologian whose work responds to the diverse needs of the contemporary church. A Cuban-American Roman Catholic, his compositions embrace multicultural musical expressions and reflect a commitment to strong ritual song.

Jan Kraybill

Jan is a musical leader in Kansas City and beyond, as a performer, educator, organ consultant, and cheerleader for the power of music to change lives for the better. She is now serving as the newest Executive Director for The Hymn Society in the U.S. and Canada.

Father Ray East

As the pastor of Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on the southeast side of Washington, Msgr. Ray East has used this calling to the priesthood to cultivate a vibrant parish life. The energy and enthusiasm East possesses for his ministry and his community are contagious.

Amanda Powell

At home on the opera stage, in the jazz club and in the national church arena, Amanda brings an authenticity and vibrancy to her music that creates profound connections with her audiences.

Suzi Byrd

Originally from Germany, Suzi has performed opera, sang oratorios, and lead congregational singing across the globe. Now a deacon in the United Methodist Church, Suzi lives and works as a church musician in Houston, TX.

Brian Hehn

Brian is active as a drumming clinician, worship leader, and song enlivener across the U.S. and Canada for many different denominations as well as ecumenical gatherings.

This gathering will focus on how organizations can help resource and support song writers. In what ways can our organizations work together to better serve the church's song writers? A 20+ resource on best practices for hymn and song writers will be distributed to all participants.

^This gathering is sponsored by a generous gift from The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and was collaboratively planned with Joyce Borger of the CRC and Ken Medema of Interlude Retreats.
